Before Roe and Dobbs: The History of Abortion in South Carolina In-Person
Dr. Cara Delay, Professor of History, and co-director of the Women’s Health Research Team will discuss her research on the history of abortion in South Carolina during the era of criminality (c. 1873-1973). You'll learn how abortion was considered an ordinary part of women's reproductive lives as well as why certain people--particularly Black women--were targeted by authorities for prosecution in Charleston and beyond.
Free and open to the public; registration is required.
Box lunches will be provided to those who register by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 14th.
Those who don’t pre-register are still encouraged to attend.
