Conseula Francis Emerging Scholar Lecture with Professor Brittney Edmonds In-Person

The African American Studies Program has invited Professor Brittney Edmonds to deliver its annual Conseula Francis Emerging Scholar Lecture on Tuesday, September 26, at 6:00 pm in Septima Clark Auditorium (Education Center 118 / 25 St. Philip Street). Her talk, “Satirizing Satire: Representing Blackness and the Social Protest Mountain,” comes out of her research on Black humor in the post-civil rights era, specifically her work on Percival Everett’s satirical novel, Erasure. Professor Edmonds is an assistant professor of African American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received her PhD from Princeton University. She specializes in Black humor studies, Black literary and cultural history, Black film studies, Black sexuality studies (especially theories of Black masculinity), and Black feminisms.

No pre-registration required. Program is free and open to the public.
